2006 Animal Health Product of the Year: Profender^® Spot On

London / Leverkusen – Profender^® Spot On, the antiparasite product for cats, has been acclaimed as the best new small-animal product of 2006 by a renowned international jury. The award ceremony took place at an event organized by the “Animal Pharm” magazine in London and was attended by some 150 guests from industry and research. “What is unique about this product is the spot-on application,” commented Dr. Klaus Hellmann, Managing Director of KLIVOVET AG in Munich, Germany, a clinical research company, on the jury’s decision to award the prize in the category “Best New Veterinary Product – Companion Animals”.

Existing products on the market to treat roundworms and tapeworms are intended solely for oral administration, and as such are notoriously difficult for pet owners to use. The new product containing the new active ingredient emodepside makes deworming easy for the owner, the veterinarian and the cat, and therefore represents a real technological advance. “Profender^® Spot On has become one of the highest-selling products in the industry within a short period of time,” stressed the jury.

“This product is further proof of our outstanding position in Parasite Solutions, and we will continue to perform this pioneering work in the future”, said Dr. Roland Schaper from the Marketing Department of Bayer HealthCare’s Animal Health Division, who was responsible for the market launch.
